“The Compass of success:
The rules to win while remaining free”
presented by Mr Paolo Gallo
Chief Human Resources Officer at the World Economic Forum
“Lalive’’, rue de la Mairie 35, 1207 Genève
The title of the book may suggest that this is a thick manual of some sort yuppismo “How to become Donald Trump in seven steps.” It is not any of that. It ‘a book among other surprisingly well written by a manager who is not a professional writer. Then is a deeply sensitive book. Paolo Gallo, chief of staff of the World Economic Forum in Geneva, it shares with the reader the delicate anecdotes of working and private life, the difficulties faced and how it came to the head. So this is not a manual of answers but, as all serious coach, Paul Gallo helps to ask the right questions.
At the end like it or not companies or organizations in general are complex human realities and difficult. Learn to “work together” to work is an arduous path. We are everyday rub elbows with people, with colleagues, superiors or co-workers or clients who have an education different from ours, different personalities, different cultures, different formations. This book gives some useful ideas on how to do well in good standing, ie on how to move forward and work well without being overwhelmed by the arrogance and the misconduct of others and without falling into frustration. Without being blackmailed. There is a chapter entitled “How to make a career remain decent people”. The maximum would make a career as decent people and transform those who meet there.
